Sarah Palin

At first glance, Sarah Palin is an attempt by the McCain camp to woo disaffected Hillary supporters. But upon further review, it is more to do with the base. She is a conservative thru and thru. She has battled corruption and won. The fact the she beat two Governors to win The Governor of Alaska shows that she has some juice too. Now she is a good pick for two reasons. First, she is energizing the base. A lot of republicans, including myself has opined that to fix this country we need to hit rock bottom first and Barrack would get there pretty quick. But with a succesful reformer on the ticket it gives hope, that the party is going in the right direction. Ans second she will appeal to many women voters. Now many of the hardcore femnists will still not vote republican, but a lot of women will like her. She has an amazing energy to her that is infectious.

Now I like the pick because it is bold. I thought the Joe Biden pick, while practical, lacked any creativity. It was a reactionary pick to the issues with Russia. He needed someone to round his weakness of experience. McCain on the other hand took a risk, a big one. Which could just as easily blow up as it could succeed. But MCCain is 72 and because he helped get HD tv in our houses he looks every bit of it. This pick adds youth and vigor to the campaign. Some call it a Hail Mary, I think it is more of a swinging for the fences. I think McCain will win with or without Palin, because everybody forgets about the biggest voting bloc. The older white male. But this is a pick designed to win. If McCain loses it won't be because he wouldn't or couldn't swing. And I like that.

The Cut Republican
